The self-erecting mechanics and self-erecting nature of paper pop-ups has bewitched the hearts and minds of children and adults for decades. Using a complex slot-and-tab system in lieu of adhesive, these pop-ups are structures I use to contemplate self-reliance, nonexistence, and scene-setting.
